Garden philosophy for the defiant and adventurous

from the web site of Benjamin Vogt

When it’s not busy selling data, Facebook can be a treasure trove. I just discovered Benjamin Vogt, a garden designer and writer who is working hard to promote and create nature-friendly gardens. He works in Nebraska (prairie ecosystems) so many of the plants he uses would not be appropriate here in Hamilton, but I absolutely love his eloquence and defiance in the face of corporate and suburban garden homogeniety.

Do check out his web site for plenty of great gardening resources. And if you need some encouragement and inspiration on your Monarch Award journey, you’ll find it here: If you like what you read, Benjamin has written a book A New Garden Ethic that will show our passion for gardening in a new, insistent context.
